Chateau d’Astros and Provencal wine

How typical of Provence and at the same time always delightful road. You would like to say that avenue of plane trees, leads directly to Chateau d’Astros. The chateau itself is not easy to access, because it belongs to the private owners. There is a quite history here: the Templars, the Knights of Malta and a wealthy family from Marseille associated with soap factories. Today, the owner is Bernard Maurel, chairman of the supervisory board of (the private bank) Martin-Maurel. He manages this wonderful land together with Bruno Maurel. Chateau d’Astros has belonged to the Maurel family since 1802.

Here you can count on a wonderful walk around the estate, beautiful views, a trip in a four by four vehicle and of course, wine tasting! The chateau remains closed to visitors, but you can undoubtedly touch history here. There is not only the old chateau from 1637, but also the well and the dovecote from 1638, the aqueduct and the Chapel of St. Lamberta 1691.

Here you can organize a wine event in the middle of nature. The cost of such a event is about 300 euros. An outdoor photo session in the castle park is also available at this price.

And what about the wines? As I wrote before, the wines are based on a unique historical soil, so they have a solid foundation to become something exceptional. I recommend wines with a special emphasis on reds. Strong in character, complex with an exceptionally beautiful ruby color. More experienced players will find a bit of Tuscany in this wine. It’s good, and it could be much better, just hide it in the cellar and wait, let’s hope…
