Château des Garcinières – Cogolin

As far as Chateau des Garciniéres and Cogolin can sound a little unfamiliar for some, Grimauld or St Tropez will lead you straight to the exact location of this point on your vineyard’s tour.

Château des Garcinières - entrance

20 hectares of vineyards classified as AOC Cote de Provence, the red phone and – if we are lucky enough – something else! This time I am going to start from wine because the thing I could definitely find here is an interesting sparkling wine and we have tested the following:

Rose – the ones I appreciated are Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah, with the aroma of cherries, citrus and apricots.

White wines through Rolle, which shows the notes of the hawthorn, honey and the acacia.
Red with Grenache and Syrah. The etiquette says that they explode with the aroma of red fruit, blackberries and blackcurrants for Cuvée Traditionnelle, and even some notes of cinnamon and vanilla for Cuvée du Prieuré. Cuvée Traditionnelle Rouge 2016: blackberries, strawberries and blueberries… Personally, I strongly recommend rose here and I just cannot believe myself…
You will also find a big range of regional products here, such as honeys from Draguignan, jams from Gassin, as well as olive oils from the Sourdon family from Moulin de Saint Jean in the Baux de Provence valley.
When you finally get here, I hope it will be closed! I wish you that with all my heart! In front of the door to the left you will find a phone – the one with a red receiver and …. You will make the call!

Château des Garcinières - 'the red phone'

The game is on – START! Welcome to Château des Garcinières! The moment you get a glimpse of the prices for visiting this place, the whole magic is gone. But not for long. The stuff is really kind and there is This wine.

Whole of the area shows characteristics of a magnificent palace kept in the manner of a neglected country cottage.
However, some changes are bound to come as from 2020 this place is going to be marked as bio. And it is really adorable (it is enough to mention that it used to be owned by the Cistercians). So… as they say…. “better days are coming”.

Château des Garcinières also offers a room for meetings, seminaries and bigger tastings all through the year. If one decides to camouflage some imperfections, it is possible to organize something quite pleasant here. Well, intimate for sure.

In the very heart of this vineyard there is a fully equipped room: heating/air conditioning, a sound system, a video projector, wi-fi chairs, a kitchenette, a toilet and a direct access to the parking lot.

Each Thursday evening in the summer Château des Garciniéres offers an aperitif in the shadow of plane trees. In this season it is also open longer and at the weekends. Whereas winter is an ostentatious low season to 4.30 PM. But there are some advantages when it comes to that low season. In spite of those quite obvious ones, it is worth to mention that the winter and spring times here are really beautiful.

It is worth coming here for the light, careless and unpretentious wine which- together with the whole area – is immersed in the picturesque nature of Provence.
