“A Good Year” movie versus Chateau La Siraque and Le Coin Perdu wine

Certainly most of us have watched Ridley Scott’s film “A Good Year” with the famous scenes from Chateau La Siraque. It was an extremely pleasantful picture, one could easily say magical. Provence appears here as an idyllic place on Earth. You can daydream while wandering through mysterious gardens together with spoiled Max. The world of wines combined with Chateau La Siraque is the charm in itself. This movie has certainly helped Provence by increasing dilemmas not only of a tourist nature, whether to choose Provence or Tuscany…

Today I will not consider answering the above question, but I rather decide to check what percentage of Provence is in this Provencal movie. How does the famous Le Con Perdu wine and the idyllic Chateau La Siraque looks in reality.

In order to have proper foundations, I went to the source on my own. To be precise – to the sites where the film was made. By the way, I got excited about the possibility of tasting wine, because Vaucluse is the land of wine, as well as the area of lavender, truffles and melons. Vancluse is also known as terroire of Peter Mayle, whose books you probably know – also the author of “A Good Year”.

Today I will talk about the movie. I am taking you to the Vaucluse department, marked in France with the number 84. From Aix-en-Provence there is only a short distance to cover, because in about half an hour we can reach Petit Luberon, a natural regional park. Let me go straight to the point, as we are standing at the gate, or rather next to the gate of the Chateau!

Chateau La Siroque - Chateau La Canorgue

The Chateau La Siroque from the movie is actually Provencal Chateau La Canorgue. It is easy to get there by passing the charming town of Bonnieux, that I’m willing too tell you about later on. In the age of the Internet, you can prepare yourself in advance to boost your knowledge a bit – that I also did. Since I have a habit of preparing myself using at least the information contained on the Chateau website, I started from it – their official website. I must admit that right from the start I was astoned by the peculiar tone of the owner of the property. Something is definitely bothering someone in the place they are sitting. It’s bothering very strongly and continuously! This ulcer must be big, tiring and unfortunately not everyone knows about it as the exact causes are not given. Apparently the cause is us. By simply watching the movie we are bothering irritated owners of the property.

This way of perceiving reality will appeal as correct to those of you who know the downsides and drawbacks of being a famous person. The phrase about reaping the benefits of something, probably does not make sense here. However, I deeply believe that if you have a positive attitude towards the world, you can turn everything into your own profit! For example, if others get discouraged, there will be no crowds on site! Surprisingly  it becomes much worse when you enter “the Good Year movie” website tab. The lack of a good year for passing years is can be felt.

Where to find this Good Year?

The sentence: “…the cinema episode is over” is poisonous and whoever is behind this text is trying very hard to destroy spell and magic that spreads the film in our hearts and minds. Do not enter this page! Do not read this! If you liked the film and got bitten by the bug, leave the page for the others. Maybe there is a problem, someone do not want to talk about. Maybe someone does not know how to handle it in any other way.

Prepared and slightly intimidated but not thrown off guard. Oh no! We drive onto the property!

Brama do Dobrego Roku

Here is the report itself:. On the right we are passing the gate immortalized in the film. Is it in the same condition? Probably in worse… In any case, it has become overgrown. Driving on, it is much better, because the sun is shining and I bring my nose closer to the wine! The service is nice, taciturn and takes a lot of care of two poodles who choose rosé wines among rosé wines… It doesn’t matter! we have more time for ourselves, more time to read, look, get around and test! Here the film returns and although I try very hard to distinguish fiction from reality; although I reset the tastes and impressions, so that the film does not affect my subconscious. I admit honestly that my first glance was directed at the bottle of Con Perdu. But wait a minute, I cannot make my moves based on fiction. So we start indifferently with everything that is not le Coin Perdu.

The movie becomes dangerous reality in the first sips. Chateau La Canorque AOC Luberon red wine is almost undrinkable (testing time: autumn 2018). Please refer to the movie. The white wines that I bravely tested earlier are indeed reliable. The rosé – although I personally have a mixed relationship with rosé – is also tolerable. Ok, I give up. It’s not good. At the same moment, the nice lady from the service pours us Coin Perdu. Was it intentional? Did someone play a trick? Did the film crew enchant the wine or did they find it like that?

The wine is beautiful. This is the shortest review I could write for this drink. The length of the aftertaste in the mouth is hmm… relatively average… however… it is like the most beautiful moment that you would like to shout “stay”, and it ends so quickly, too quickly. Would it be better if it lasted longer? How long would it have to last? In any case, this wine is alive. The wine is complex. There is magic in this wine, and certainly spirit. It is the wine of a man who has seen something, who has experienced something. Definitely yes.

How does Chateau Canorgue compare to the film’s La Siroque? My answer: Whatever is happening is not happening well.

No sightseeing, no souvenirs… But there is something that I discovered as a artist and that you should notice as well!!! There is a treasure! The treasure of Provence! The extraordinary light from the Good Year movie is really here! It can be found all over Provence, but here in this place there is really a lot of it! MAGIC! So don’t break the copies, break the ice and behave properly to see the light of Provence known to you from the paintings of the great painters and of course from a Good Year film! You can’t visit a lot here – at the same time, in this way we get magic for free! Let me invite you here!
