Provence

Provence (from French) – also Provença or Prouvènço – is a region situated in the southern, more accurately in the south-eastern part of France. Its name comes from a province of the Roman Empire, which was also called Provincia Nostra – “Our Province” – by the Romans. Mountains, canyons, lakes, the Mediterranean, fields of lavender and herbs, palms, olive groves and cypresses as well as exceptional colors are enough to have been attracting tourists for ages.
Provence is also the cradle of French wine-making!

When you are enjoying the wine from Provence, especially the red one that have been unappreciated for a long, long time – you taste the might of history, the strengths of the south and the intensive, passionate smells of herbs and levity.

Our story begins about 2600 years ago, when the Greeks from Phocaea – Phocèens in French – founded Marseilles and for the first time the fairy-tale-lake plant which the grapevine is arrived in France. Next came the Romans, who – as you can easily guess – were also familiar with grapevines.

Today, the rose wine is highly advertised and common, so there is no need to write more about this drink from Provence. Without a doubt, it goes hand in hand with the informal and light style, fun and the need of refreshment in the summer. Among the wines there are some hidden treasures. Those especially loved by us – the people of the north – which are sparkling wines. In Provence you might also find a burger with fries or the already famous Caesar salad, even – or maybe we should say – just when you are not looking for such kind of tidbits. It has become a reason for jokes among numerous tourists who are expecting only the incredible and purely idyllic in our imagination French cuisine. We – the people of the north – often do not appreciate rose wines mostly because of their different climate and – what follows – different way of spending time.

In Provence – as you can surely guess – we can also find great white wines as well as some exceptional and completely unique red wines, which deep smell of the south will make you love Provence. The choice is all yours.

Provence is also the lavender, fabulous baskets, garlic, 2CV Citroen – so called the duck, philosophy, history and the wonderful sun.
